National Registry for Local Heroes

As BOC President Wellington Miller announced earlier this month, there has been a call to recognise local heroes through a National Registry.

Established by the Bahamas Olympic Committee, the National Registry of Local Heroes is designed to recognise individuals within the community who have exhibited the Olympic Values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship.  These individuals contributed to our nation for the first 20 years of our independence as well as prior to that.  These local heroes who are to be recognised can be living or dead and from any of the Islands of the Bahamas.

Local Heroes will be listed on the BOC Local Heroes website with a picture and area of contribution.
For example: Ms. Thelma Fox - Beloved Teacher. They can be nominated by any of the following categories:

-Homemaker
-Educator
-Business
-Professional Services
-Religious
-Athletics
-Community Service

A local hero may be nominated by an ordinary person whose life was touched by the individual.
